South Africa
has two major international airports,
Johannesburg International and Cape Town
International. Most of the major airlines
fly direct to Johannesburg, with many
offering direct flights to Cape Town too.
South African Airways (SAA) is the official
South African airline offering flights
to and from major destinations worldwide.
Internally,
South Africa has an excellent domestic
network with various airlines flying between
the major cities on a daily basis. These
flights can be fairly expensive unless
booked in advance, but there are two 'no-frills'
airlines which offer cheaper seats. Charter
flights are available to the private game
reserves and exclusive lodges that have
private airstrips.
Both Johannesburg
and Cape Town International Airports have
recently undergone extensive renovations
and refurbishments and promise to offer
the visitor a world-class experience.
