For a scenic detour via the spectacular
Blyde River Canyon, take the R540
at Belfast which leads to Dullstroom
and onto Lydenburg. The R532 then
travels via the scenic Long Tom
Pass on the edge of the Sterkspruit
Nature Reserve and then to Sabie
on the banks of the rushing Sabie
River. From Sabie a circular route
via Graskop leads past the breathtaking
vistas of Bourke's Luck Potholes
and Pinnacle Rock to the deep green
chasms of the Blyde River Canyon.
The historic town of Pilgrim's Rest
is also worth a visit. The entire
town, founded during the Transvaal
Gold Rush in the 1870's, has been
declared a national monument.
The Kruger National Park can be
entered at the Malelane Gate from
the N4 or from either the Paul Kruger
gate from Hazyview or the Numbi
Gate near White River.
